Kalocsa embroidery is one of Hungary’s most famous folk art styles, originating from the Kalocsa region. It is characterized by the use of rich, colorful, and ornate floral motifs. Common designs include roses, tulips, carnations, and other stylized flowers, which are typically arranged symmetrically.

Originally, Kalocsa embroidery was done in white-on-white, but starting in the late 19th century, it gradually began to feature colorful threads. The colors are vibrant and contrasting, such as red, blue, yellow, green, and purple. These embroideries are most commonly used on clothing, tablecloths, and other textiles, and are an integral part of Kalocsa folk art.

The Kalocsa motifs have become a symbol of Hungarian culture.
